X announced August 7, 2026 that it is retiring its Creator Revenue Sharing program and replacing it with a new Original Content Rewards Program. The company said the new program is designed to "reward creators who bring original ideas, expertise, reporting, creativity, and commentary to X." Enrollment in the old program closed immediately, with current participants earning through September 7. The new program opens for applications September 8, 2026.

What Qualifies As Original Content? According to X's guidelines, original content includes self-written threads, photos or video creators shot themselves, and commentary that adds real analysis or perspective and not just adding captions to posts made by other people. X says accounts that rely heavily on reposting others' work will need to add "meaningful original value" to qualify.
Who Qualifies For Original Content Rewards? To qualify for the Original Content Rewards Program, creators must be at least 18 years old and based in a country where the program is available. Accounts must be in good standing, with no history of repeated violations of X's monetization rules or terms of service. Only personal or business accounts are eligible; political and government accounts are excluded. Creators also need an active X Premium, Premium+, or Premium Business subscription, at least 500 verified followers, and a minimum of 500,000 Home Timeline impressions from verified users over the past 90 days. Impressions on replies don't count toward that total. Read the full article
